Visualize yourself not as you ARE, but as you CAN BE

WE USE THREE PRIMARY METHODS TO TEACH BASIC & ADVANCED ELEMENTS OF THE GAME:

MODELING

Through the use of video and live demonstrations and modeling, athletes are better able to understand what they are exploring in the learning process

GAME PLAY

25 years of research has shown that isolation is not the best way to learn skills that will be performed in context.  So we provide the context all the time, simplifying the game when needed rather than isolating the technique.

FEEDBACK

Well timed and well delivered feedback is an essential element in the learning process.  Our feedback is always positive, focused on controllable aspects, and externally focused, as these qualities ensure the greater opportunity to apply the feedback for the athlete.

FOUR IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING WE INCORPORATE IN OUR CAMPS

FUN

We believe that FUN has to be the top priority, as it is an essential part of the path to matery. Fun, intensity, and competition are not mutually exclusive.

GROWTH MINDSET

Research pioneered by Stanford Professor Carol Dweck shows that our mindset and approach to learning have a huge impact on our development and future success. We teach athletes how to cultivate a growth mindset and view events as challenges rather than threats

SPECIFICITY

Motor Learning Science reveals a number flaws in the “traditional” approach to athlete development. Game-like training, rather than isolated “blocked” training is the best way to get athletes better faster, and insure retention over time.

TRAINING UGLY

Applying the principles of Growth Mindset and Specificity will create a little chaos, confusion, and ugliness. They will develop better, more well rounded players who are prepared to perform when it matters most, in a match. We don’t train to look good in training. We train to get better. All growth happens outside the comfort zone. So mistakes are a sign of challenge, and should be embraced
